Over Christmas

From 23/12/19 - 3/1/20 all our doctor appointments will be reserved for on the day booking.

We still have access to book routine appointments at evenings and weekends at local federation hubs.

Register to use our online access service

This allows you to book and cancel appointments, order repeat prescriptions and see your test results.  This service is available to those aged 16 and over.  If you would like to use this service, please bring along photographic ID to reception.

Please note you can only book a routine NHS doctor appointment in this way.  Private medicals must be arranged through our administrator (dial 0208 365 3303 option 3).

For clinical reasons, some appointments cannot be booked online, for example, nurse appointments, joint injections and coil fittings.

To book an appointment online, click on the link at the top of this page.

How our Appointment System works

We have developed our appointment system over many years and believe it to be the best and safest possible system given the unlimited demand on General Practice appointments.

Many problems can nowadays be managed by telephone and we therefore offer both telephone and face to face appointments.

Telephone appointments are FIVE MINUTES and face to face appointments are TEN or FIFTEEN MINUTES long.

You can book appointments online, or by telephone. Routine/ non-urgent appointments can also be booked at the desk.

We DO NOT book on the day urgent appointments at the desk.

We release appointments up to three weeks ahead. We find that if we book further ahead than this then many appointments are forgotten or missed.

Half our appointments are bookable in advance, the rest are released on the day at 8am Monday to Friday

A number of advance appointments are “embargoed” and are released at intervals throughout the week, including at weekends. These slots are available to book online so it really does help if you register for online access to the appointment system – you need to show ID at the desk to be given a unique log in code for access.

If all of the “on the day” appointments have been booked or if your query is urgent and needs to be dealt with that day then you will be offered TELEPHONE TRIAGE by the Duty Doctor. There is a Duty Doctor each day during opening hours. The Duty Doctor will invite you in to be seen IF APPROPRIATE. We see everybody who has clinical need and nobody is ever turned away, however please note that it is for the doctor to decide what constitutes appropriate clinical need. Please do not call for a Duty Doctor appointment if you are unavailable to be called in if necessary – you will be asked to call back when you are available.

The Duty Doctor deals with URGENT problems which cannot wait until the next day. The Duty Doctor is NOT able to deal with the following:

Routine requests for prescriptions (please request these ONLINE, they are dealt with very speedily within 48 hours, usually much faster)

Queries about test results (please arrange a call with the doctor who requested the tests)

Requests for routine referrals or letters (please arrange a call with your usual doctor)

We ask you to please be patient and understanding with our staff who are trying their very best to help you.  We understand that it can sometimes be frustrating to get through on the telephone and would encourage you to register for online access which enables you to book appointments, request medication and access appropriate help if needed.

For non-urgent appointments outside our opening hours - please see the Extended Access Appointments tab
